Dear Batman lunchbox,
You won me mom of the year, or at least of this week.  Thank you for soliciting the excited "Fank you, mom!"  and enduring the long and not so gentle hug from Gideon.

Dear Walmart,
I can't believe I'm saying this...you did good.  Your fall decor selection is great and the prices can't be beat.  Also, way to go on the galvanized metal letters.

Dear Cliff crunch bars,
My name is Emily and I'm an addict.  An addict of your goodness.  Thank you for the delight you bring into my life.  I promise to never cheat on you again with the regular Cliff bars.  It just wasn't the same despite what Taylor said.

Dear fall,
I'm ready for you.  Cool, crisp air to greet me daily.  Pumpkins, leaves, sweaters, boots.  The ability to step outside and not turn into a sweaty mommy monster.  You're my favorite and I don't care who knows it.

Dear basket of clean laundry,
Don't look at me like that.  I see you.  I see you sitting there.  I'm just not ready to commit to folding you and putting you away.  So many socks to match.  So, I'll just lay here on the couch for a few minutes instead.  Sorry.

Dear baby rolls,
You are so yummy. I don't even mind having to meticulously separate each and every one of you to clean the gunk that sneaks up in there.  Feel free to stick around for a while.  Just another delicious reminder of all the hard work I've put in the past six months.  #mamastrong

Dear four month sleep regression,
How dare you?

Dear Amazon,
Thank you for existing.  And for two day Prime shipping.  You just helped this frazzled mom complete her Father's Day shopping.

Dear summer,
You may be hot, but you sure are fun.  Bring on the saltwater, tans, long days and Sno cones.

Dear baby birds,
I love hearing your sweet little chirps while I nurse my baby to sleep.  I'm so glad your little home is right outside my sweet boy's nursery.

Dear Gideon,
I still hear you in your room.  It's nap time.  In case the five previous reminders didn't stick.  Also, please don't use this as an opportunity to pull all of your clothes out of your closet again.

Dear HGTV,
Come help me!

Dear future self,
It's all worth it.

Dear potty training,
You're kicking my butt right now.  Why are you so difficult?  Why does he only want to go at nap and bed time? (Stalling much?) We've tried bribes, sticker charts, songs, cheering.  Please take it easy on me.

Dear dairy,
I miss you.  Chocolate, cheesecake, pastries, CHEESE, yogurt.  I miss you.  That is all.

Dear twenty-seven,
I'll see you on Sunday.  I think we will have a great year together.

Dear lavender baby wash,
Thank you, thank you, thank you.  You calm my boys down and help them sleep so well.  You make a huge difference and of course you smell like heaven.

Dear Taylor Swift,
Your new album is a big hit around here.  We jam to some 1989 in the car.  My two year old particularly likes "Shake it" and "That other one song, mommy" (also known as Style).  He "sings" most of the words.  I'll take it over Old McDonald any day.

Dear baby rolls,
Please stay.  I love the Michelin man look they give my little guy.  Arms rolls, leg rolls, those adorable little back of the neck rolls.  I could eat you up.

Dear sleep,
It's been a while.  I know I don't spend much time with you lately.  Maybe in a few months... or ten I'll be able to enjoy you more.

I forgot about my little letters until my sister decided to use the idea towards her October blogging.  So, I thought I could at least bring in October (hello chili season!) with a little letter writing.

Dear October,
I'm so excited to see you again.  You bring all the good things like chili, leaves, birthdays, and an excuse to drink hot chocolate, or at the very least, it keeps the barista from giving me the side-eye while ordering.  Stick around, oh you know, for 31 days and we will have all sorts of adventures together.

Dear nausea,
I'm so over you.  At almost 18 weeks pregnant, I have battled you through almost half of an entire pregnancy.  You can go away now.  I'd like to enjoy food and give in to cravings without thinking about what it will do later on.  Scadaddle already!

Dear Gideon,
I love you to pieces, first of all.  Second, you have got to get over your fear of costumes.  Mama needs you at the end of the month to bring in hoards of candy for my enjoyment (and yours, trust me)!

Dear apartment,
We've had a rocky relationship over the past year.  I can't say that I am going to miss you though.  I'm really looking forward to zero stairs to bring in groceries, quietness above my head, and a yard for me to release my wild monkey into during the day.  I will say that I have experienced much while living in your walls and that I will cherish.  So, I guess in a way, thanks.

Dear Friday morning mamas,
You guys keep me sane.  I can't express how much I look forward to sitting and chatting for over two hours each week without a child hanging off my limbs.  The donuts help, too.  Thanks for the encouragement, the wisdom imparted, and the friendship I find so necessary in my life.

Dear baby,
Keep kicking up a storm in there, little one.  It delights me more than I ever thought possible.  I take so much comfort in feeling it all.  Also, it would be super awesome if you could cooperate next week and let us have a peek-sy to see who you are.

All my love,
Em
