4th

All of our plans for the Fourth got turned upside down because Gideon had hand, foot, and mouth disease.  We didn't want to risk taking him around other kids and getting them sick.  I just couldn't live with myself if I put that evil on other parents.  So, we said, what the hey, and decided to make the most of it at home.  It was one of the best days we've had.

Morning pool time (pretty much to ourselves!), Skyping with family, grilling hamburgers and eating the most amazing guacamole dip. Naps (Amen), a tricycle ride, bomb pops, soccer, and a night of fireworks.  Can't beat that.  It was laid-back and low-key which I like.

Our little town put on a fun fireworks time that started earlier in the evening with bounce houses, face painting, food trucks, and the Marine Band playing.  It was a blast and Gideon was enthralled with every bit of it.  He was cautiously accepting of the fireworks.  If they were too loud, he would grab onto us and say, NOOOO. But, a few times he started saying boom, and imitating them.  Same love-hate relationship with sparklers.  He kept his distance, but still wanted to see what it was all about.  Until next year, America.
